In his children's book, Cats and Detectives in the Korean Peninsula, R.F. Kristi tells the story of Inca and his squad of super-detective felines who worked to solve mysteries. This book transports the reader to South Korea, where their mom has been chosen to serve as a judge for a cooking contest. After making quick friends with the neighborhood animals upon arriving, Inca and his team decided to help two friends who were separated reunite. Will Inca and his crew be able to help these two friends, who were split up due to the conflict between North and South Korea, get back together? Can they also prevent their mother's arch-enemy from ruining the introduction of her new cheese? To find out what happens next, read this book.

It was written in simple grammar because it was a children's book, which made it easier to grasp. I enjoyed the author's use of a foreign setting to teach readers more about various cultures. Excellent animal details were included in the book, which demonstrates the depth of the author's investigation. I particularly appreciated the author's courteous introduction of the North-South Korean conflict and discussion of how they may coexist despite their differences.

I expected this book to be about solving mysteries as it was titled "Solving Mysteries," but none were in fact solved in this one. This demonstrates that detectives can also solve problems in addition to mysteries. I think some kids won't be able to understand some of the difficult subjects this book discusses when they read it.

I give this book a rating of four out of five stars. It's a fantastic book that addresses important concerns facing the world today, but because the author doesn't discuss the conflicts that exist between those issues, the topic is left unfinished.

Regardless matter whether you've read the earlier series, I suggest this book for young readers and anybody who love animals.
