Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul with Arvind Paul is a children’s book about a little girl who dreams she goes to heaven while asleep. These dreams occur for several nights, and the little girl learns much about heaven during her adventures. In the mornings, she tells her family about them, leading to fruitful discussions about heaven and hell, the consequences of sin, and the glorification of salvation.

I found this book well-written and well-edited. As a Christian and a parent of small children, I enjoyed the creative take on a family having salvation discussions. The authors did not portray a family having a post-church conversation around the dinner table discussing Sunday school topics. Heaven and hell are difficult themes, and the authors creatively utilized scriptures and intertwined the salvation message in a fun and colorful story.

Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids has some beautiful illustrations that make the story come to life. However, there was one picture that had my brow furrowed. While the book discusses a family of a mother, father, and two daughters, one illustration portrays a family of five. It is slightly confusing. I also found the pages that included text and pictures much more pleasing. The pages with just long sections of text were tedious to read. If a child was reading this alone or a family was reading this together, these sections could get weary. If illustrations broke up such long segments, I think the entire story would have a better flow.

I rate this story 4 out of 5 stars. The authors did an excellent job simplifying a complex topic so that a child can understand it while explaining the importance and beauty of Christ’s salvation. I recommend this book to families with children under 14 who have some church knowledge or are interested in exploring the Christian faith.
