Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is a wholesome short story of eight-year-old Emma retelling her dream adventures to heaven. Over the course of several nights, Emma describes her adventures to her parents and six-your-old sister, allowing the reader to relive her experiences with Jesus. The story does an excellent job invoking a healthy discussion about God, Jesus, heaven and hell.

I enjoyed how Jemima and Arvind incorporated verses from the Bible into the story, enabling parents to connect with this book in a practical way. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and help bring Emma’s adventures to life. I also enjoyed the memo to parents at the end of the book, providing clarity on the message Jemima and Arvind want to convey through this story.

Towards the end of the book Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul describe that God gives visions and dreams to people, which is why Emma’s mommy and daddy believed Emma saw heaven and hell in her dreams. It would have been helpful to state this Bible verse at the beginning of this book, serving as a reminder for readers, especially if they are not familiar with this part in the Bible.

There are some grammar errors in this book and instances where Jemima and Arvind are redundant in describing Emma’s dreams. It would have been easier to follow the story if Emma described one or two of her dreams in more detail verse small details about her adventures over several nights. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

The ideal reader is a family who wants to introduce God, Jesus and the concept of heaven and hell with their family. By leveraging Emma to describe God, Jesus, heaven and hell it will help younger audiences connect with the concepts shared in this book.
