Mary Grace's life changes in Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe. Her parents were sent to Africa as missionaries by the Episcopal Church, and now she and her brother Donny must leave their loving home of Wichita, Kansas, to live with their grandparents in California for two years. How could they manage without their parents? And what if they receive threatening messages in California?

Who is sending these threats? How can they stop her?

The Californian Adventures of Donny and Mary Grace is a touching and relatable story. I could relate to Mary Grace's homesickness, jealousy, bullying, and family love, which were all themes in the book.

Donny was such a brilliant character. He exuded such joy and positivity despite his disability, which was probably due to the love his family showed him. Donny also brought this to my attention because I needed to research more about his disability because I didn't know it.

Mary Grace is too smart for her age. The way this 10-year-old girl was able to solve the mystery of the threats she received and how she managed to deal with this situation is commendable. I loved that Mary Grace was able to use the lessons she learned from the adventures of the grandma gang to solve some of the problems in this book.

This is a lesson we must learn: we should always learn from other people's experiences and apply them to our lives at the right time.

Catherine A. Pepe could deal with deception, jealousy, bullying and punishment very well in this book. Punishment doesn't have to be severe to be effective.

I found no bugs in Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures.

And I didn't hate anything about this book. I rate it perfect  5 out of 5.

I recommend this book for children aged six and above. It is appropriate because there is no profanity in this book and children can learn a lot from it.
