Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
Have you ever stopped to think about or appreciate nature? What is most likely preventing you from doing so? Is it possible that it's time? If that's the case, do you believe you'll ever have enough time? "Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat," by R.F. Kristi, will teach you to love and appreciate nature and animals. This is the seventh book in the Inca series. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read on its own. It is a book aimed at children aged seven to twelve. It is 95 pages long.
I was so excited to come across Inca and company (the Kitties) while reading the book because they are known for solving serious detective mysteries. Inca is the owner of that detective agency. According to the book, she is also a super-duper cat detective. Inca's mother decided to spend her vacation on a small island in Sri Lanka. They had a good time at the beach while they were there. They were able to escape the cold weather in their home City of London because the weather in Sri Lanka was both cool and warm. Life at the beach was exciting, though Inca and the sisters missed their friends Polo and Monk, whom they had left in London. Inca's mother was holding the newspapers during breakfast one morning. She was horrified after reading the headline. The headline read, "A valuable old antique sword has been stolen from Colombo's main museum." This came as quite a surprise! She had travelled from London to see that location and admire such a beautiful sword. Can you imagine how depressing that would be? Her optimism was dashed. And, by the way, do you believe the sword was found? Who would have done such a thing?
The book was enjoyable to read. I enjoyed every aspect of the story. To name a few, the author included beautiful coloured pictures in the text. These gave a visual response to the story. I could also see what the author was talking about. These helped make the story more understandable. Second, I appreciated the kitties' cooperation. This taught me an important lesson: Never do anything alone. Even the kitties were able to make new friends. Do you want to know who their new friends are? Simply walk in and find out. Third, the cast is small but well-developed. I and my younger sister (to whom I read the book) can recall each character and their role in the story.
To be honest, I had no complaints about the book. I did not notice any errors in grammar, spelling, or typos while reading, so the editing was flawless. And I give the book 5 out of 5 stars based on my enjoyment of it.
I mostly recommend the book to parents because it is full of good lessons to learn from. This is because parents will use the book's insights to teach their children appropriate social behaviour. Children will also be taught to respect animals and nature.
