Enjoy the quiet serenity of the sweet and soothing lullaby in The Goodnight Song by Bronwyn Cronin. In this simple story for infants and toddlers aged zero to three, the sleepy woodland creatures enjoy the smooth sound of strings played by a young girl and a bear as the musicians serenade the listeners to sleep.

My favorite aspect of this children's board book is the author's effort in composing the lullaby that plays along with the book's pages. Listening to the pleasant sounds of the violin and piano as the author herself sings the lyrics to the lullaby was a relaxing experience that I would highly recommend to moms of infants. The soothing song was cheerful, and I appreciated the animated video that followed the book. The accompanying music is available for free using the QR code provided on the book's cover, but readers can purchase the MP3 download on the author's website. Cronin also provides links to buy the song's sheet music and companion video.

Annie Wilkinson beautifully pairs this lovely serenade with vividly textured illustrations that bring the song to life. I loved the yawning bees, and the cozy little birds tucked away in their nests. I especially loved the bee sleeping on a small hammock—it was absolutely adorable! The other assortment of animals depicted in their snug underground burrows provided a sense of peace and tranquility to the story's tone. Most importantly, the girl and bear faithfully play the whole night through to each set of creatures, making sure they stop one final time for an essential listener at the end of the story.

There was nothing that I disliked about this short, simple book. I noticed no errors and have no reason to reduce the rating. Therefore, I give The Goodnight Song four out of four stars.

I'd highly recommend this book to new moms with tiny infants. This book would also be the perfect gift idea for those attending a baby shower. The charming board book is available in a 7" by 7" format that could be substituted for a card or accompany the gift from the registry. Music lovers of all ages may appreciate the beauty of this well-composed lullaby that soothes the weary soul!

Ohh, I think this is an audible book. So nice of the author to sing the lullaby. This is awesome, but I’ll pass thought.
