Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a light-hearted, funny, and adventurous book for little readers. Instead of relaxing in a sunny and sandy place, our snoopy friend will have to investigate a serious crime. This is a diary where a curious cat shares his seven-day adventures with his lovely friends. Inca and Company is a detective agency headed by our main character. You will meet brave dogs, intelligent hamsters, and of course, Inca's dear family members on the team. Will they be able to return the national treasure to its place and save the precious cultural heritage?
The first thing I liked was that the book provided us with all the necessary information from the beginning, which avoided confusion. The Inca Family Tree introduces us to his siblings and the sweet people he calls his mother and aunt. The family tree is decorated with colorful, simple, and lovely illustrations. The author also introduces the members of Inca and Company. I instantly found my favorite character too. Charlotte is a cute and smart hamster whose big glittering eyes immediately caught my attention. From the very first page, I noticed that the book was written with great love. The author's warmth and love for children is felt in the descriptions of the characters and the events. "My furry family and I were behaving like flower buds in the warm sunshine," is not this sentence heart-warming?
I should mention that the book is informative for children. In addition to learning a lot about Sri Lanka in general, they will also learn about its rich culture. Furthermore, the little reader will better understand the importance of cultural monuments and artifacts to the country. I hope, after reading the book, children will show more interest in museums and other educational institutions.
We've all heard "Don't judge a book by its cover", yet I think the cover, especially in children's books, can easily spark a reader's curiosity. The cover of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat, and the title printed on it with a large front did not appeal to me. It would have been preferable if the cover was more vibrant and joyful.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I decided to give it a perfect rating because the negative aspect was not enough to deduct a star. This is an adventurous and educational book designed for both preschoolers and older children. Colorful illustrations, simple but well-thought-out storyline, and informativeness make this book stand out. This is an exceptionally well-edited book since I did not notice any errors. I recommend the book to the little reader who loves adventurous and heart-warming stories.
