The following is an onlineBookClub.org review of “Snatched up from heaven” by Jemima Paul with Arvind Paul.
This book is about Emma whom had visited heaven and hell through a dream.
Emma and her six years old sister live with both mother and father whom always involve their children in learning about their faith in Christian belief. The parents invest in their kids about the awareness of God’s love. Emma had a dream about visiting heaven, meeting God and getting a glimpse of how hell and heaven looked and felt like. That particular dream got the family very excited, intrigued and curious, especially the six year old younger sister.
I think the book is relevant for both young and old personnel, the author employed the use of a dialogue which makes the story even more intriguing. The parents played a crucial role of dissecting into Emma’s dream by asking more questions which portrays support. It shows the level of investment in trust in their children. By doing so it’s also an opportunity for the old to learn from the young, Emma’s parents got to learn more from her. The dream made everyone feel very satisfied that indeed God is a loving God based on her seeing the promises they had read about through bible scriptures with her parents.
For me, this is a book that brings forth hope and security into one, I felt engaged, spiritually. Having Emma see how heaven looked like brought the notion of how we would appreciate to see the world we live in today. I loved how Emma’s dreams distinctively clarified between heaven and hell. Heaven is where you experience peace, happiness, love, plenty of food, animals and no sickness where else hell is the opposite. The family had really learnt the comfortability of remaining with God, knowing that after death they would be experiencing complete peace there. So basically the book offered assurance. I appreciate the footnote of scriptures that are referenced from the bible which validates that of what Emma had witnessed in her dreams.
I rate the book 3 out of 4, as I feel I could’ve learnt more if the parents had asked more of relevant questions so I could have a broader understanding. I found no spelling or grammar errors in the authors writing, it was well edited and researched. I loved the author’s style of writing, using the knowledge of children as a medium to convey a crucial message.
I recommend the book to priests, Sunday school teachers, parents and both young and old personnel.
