Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the seventh book in the Inca Book Series. It, however, stands alone and can be read without having read the other six books. It is the story of Inca, a Siberian cat, and her team of detectives.
The story starts with Inca, her mom, and her siblings on vacation in Sri Lanka. They set camp in a beach cottage in the country for a well-deserved vacation. It is here that they get the news of a stolen sword from a nearby museum. Inca definitely knows she has to play a role in getting the sword back and bringing the criminals to book. With the help of her old and newfound friends on the beach, they do some proper detective work. I'm sure you want to find out how they did it and whether they were successful in this quest.
The book ticks all the boxes a good children's book should. Right from the colorful cover page, it does everything possible to attract one's attention. The illustrations here are top-shelf. Not only are they accurate but also perfectly measured. The frequency of their usage was also done excellently, the writers knew just where and when to use them.
I absolutely loved the characters in the book. They were perfectly introduced and well-developed throughout the book. The author delivered the kitties' characters perfectly. Inca, for instance, was given the attitude, speech, and spirit of a kitten. Terrance, on the other side, said and did things you would expect from puppies. This was true to all the other animal characters that were introduced in the book. I could point to nothing I disliked about the book.
I, therefore, give it a perfect rating of four out of four stars. It was well-written and delivered in a language that is simple and easy to comprehend. I only noticed two errors in the book which make me believe it was professionally edited. I'd recommend it to children between ages 5 and 10. It will surely be a fun and exciting experience for them.
