Cell Biology For Babies by Dr. Haitham Ahmed is an illustrated book for kids that will introduce them to the most crucial concept in biology: the cell. This picture book started with a basic meaning of a cell and a diagram showing the different parts that make up a cell. The following pages consist of the same diagram, but in grayscale, to focus on a colored particular part of the cell.

What I like the most about this picture book is the interactive aspect. Every short explanation has a note that parents can read to help the children be engaged in the lesson. The topic of the book is very well executed for the targeted audience. The explanations are precise enough. I’m not expecting kids to understand any of it, but I think it’s a great brain exercise for them.

The presentation of the book is excellent. The use of grayscale in the diagram helped differentiate the specific part of the cell that the book discusses. However, I recommend putting background art and color in the explanation pages to keep the child interested in seeing the book. I think black and white pages are pretty dull for kids.

With all of that said, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally edited, and it’s an exciting diagram to teach to kids. Most authors make picture books that babies can physically see to make it easier for them to understand. This one is more of a brain exercise for babies and kids, designed to make their brains handle complex terms and memorize their places in the diagram.

I would recommend this to parents who want their kids to be introduced to science topics. I would advise, though, not to force the kid into liking this book because they might hate the subject when it’s time for them to learn it.
