Inca, the charismatic kitty detective is at it once again. In the seventh instalment of the Snoopy Cat series, Inca and her family find themselves on vacation in beautiful Sri Lanka. But while taking in the sights and spending time on the beaches, they learn of the disappearance of a national treasure. An ancient sword and other valuable items have been looted by a pair of cunning thieves. Naturally, Inca becomes involved in this case as well. Will her wit and charm lead the team to solve this new mystery?

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is written by R.F. Kristi and follows the Siberian star, Inca, on her adventures in geography and crime-fighting. Because, while they might appear like ordinary - if a bit rowdy - animals to humans, Inca and her friends are actually skilled investigators who have been involved in several cases all over the world.

Written in the format of a diary, this book features simple illustrations, and a fun, easy-to-follow plot. With a host of adorable characters the reader will easily fall in love with, this is a perfect book for young readers who enjoy animals and mysteries.

Despite being innately unserious, I found the characters in this book to be well-rounded and the mystery somewhat believable. I especially enjoy the different settings the author uses in this series - sprinkling in some interesting tidbits about these locations without going into too much detail. In this particular story, the reader gets to learn of the role elephants play in the daily lives of Sri Lankans.

As this was a near-perfect book with no errors to speak of, my rating of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is four out of four stars. It was a delightful read with a perfect end.

I agree with the author's recommendation of this book to readers between seven and twelve years old.

Happy reading.
