Love, Grandma by Ann Morris is a book written in verse that illustrates memories and fun times spent with Grandma. It is a children’s book full of beautiful pictures illustrated by David Gnass. It follows the story of a grandmother playing with her two lovely granddaughters—Payton and Haley.

This book is different from the typical children’s book that has conflicts and moral lessons to be learned. This book only focuses on showing what love is and how it was shown through interacting with kids. The book also shows a healthy and nurturing relationship between kids and adult family members.

What I liked most about this book is the illustrations. The pictures have a pastel and lively color palette that evokes warm visuals. The things I did not quite like were the font of the text and the rhymes. I think that the font is too small. Additionally, the font style also makes the texts look cramped because I think it is in bold letters. I also believe that the text would be better to look at if it’s not in the color black. The rhymes felt forced sometimes, but I think kids wouldn’t mind it.

With all of that said, I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It was a very sweet and wholesome book. The illustrations are lovely, but I think that the font could be improved to better match the illustrations. I did not quite appreciate the rhymes, but the story those verses held are very simple yet beautiful. As for the editing, I did not notice any grammatical mistakes.

I would recommend this to children looking for a storybook with beautiful illustrations. I'd also recommend this to parents looking for a book that shows how an adult can make a strong connection with children through playful interactions. I think that it is important for parents to learn how to effectively interact with their kids.
