Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
A highly valuable antique sword has been stolen from the main museum of Colombo. The director of the Colombo Museum invites the well-known detective, Solo, to solve the case. Meanwhile, Inca and her animal friends are spending their vacation on the island of Sri Lanka, along with their human mom. They come to know of this case. The ever-inquisitive Inca takes on the case and attempts to solve it with the help of her new friends, Meena, the baby elephant and Rani, the sea turtle. Who stole the antique sword and why? Did Inca and her friends find and restore the sword before it's too late? Read Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat and find out for yourself.
As always, R. F. Kristi entertains with her light-hearted mystery stories in her seventh book of the Inca Cat Detective series. The plot is mysterious and thrilling enough. I loved the way Kristi included educational content into an entertaining kids' book. The plot and language are simple and lucid for the easy understanding of the younger audience.
This is a story that happens within 8 days, from June 10 to June 17. Apart from the usual gang of familiar animals, including cats, dogs and a hamster, Kristi has introduced Meena, the baby elephant and Rani, the sea turtle. Within such a short book, it's simply awesome to see such excellent character development that all the characters feel genuine.
Kristi has included a few unusual words which might be difficult for children. However, this might help improve and expand the vocabulary of the young readers. I particularly liked the fact that the book included unique facts about Sri Lanka. The island's culture is also beautifully portrayed. Although this might add educational value, I doubt if children will be patient enough to learn them because of the lavishness.
I rate Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Kristi four out of four since it is a beautifully written story filled with relatable characters for children. I highly recommend it to children of ages 7 to 12 who love animals. Although I found a couple of minor errors, the book seems professionally edited. Parents, teachers, and caretakers will enjoy reading this book for their kids.
