Mr. Germ by Itzel Machado is a book that could save lives. It's a story that illustrates where germs come from and how to make sure you don't spread as many germs. Mr. Germ will help to teach the children closest to you that washing their hands is essential, especially now. Every child will enjoy this knowledgeable story that teaches them how to keep everyone around them safe.

There's so much to like about this story, and the thing I liked the most was how easy the book was to understand. It's important for books aimed at children to be written in a fun way that they'll remember. The rhyming included in Mr. Germ is definitely fun enough to keep a child's attention. The illustrations really popped out from the page, and they were brilliantly drawn. I also liked how the images told the story and lessons without even needing to look at the words. Reading the words definitely helps to get the message across, but if there were no words, it would be clear as to what was going on by the pictures.

The handwashing lessons and the overall story were great, but I disliked how the book was formatted. The pages seemed too adult with how one page was for the photo, and the other was for the words. It would have been better and fewer pages if the words were on the same page as the photo. This isn't such a big problem though as I understand the author thought this format was the best idea and probably the easiest. Even though I don't particularly like the format, many other readers probably will.

I'd suggest the age range for this book be 3+ because the child needs to be able to understand the book for it to have a real impact on how well they wash their hands.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because while the book taught a good lesson on washing hands, the book's format seemed to be aimed more at adults rather than at children. All in all, it was a great story with fantastic illustrations. Hopefully, many children will read stories like this during this pandemic.

I will surely enjoy this one. A book telling us how germ emanate and it's characters would be an interesting read.

Thanks for your insightful review. This book can be helpful for many parents to teach their children about proper handwashing, especially if their child is fed up with doing that.
