Serendipity Mystery - Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi, is an animal mystery adventure story written about Inca, a cat detective. The setting is in Sri Lanka. It details how the Inca Detective Agency investigated the theft of national artifacts and treasure from the National Museum in Sri Lanka while on holiday.

Serendipity Mystery - Diary of a Snoopy Cat provides readers with exciting background information about the geography of Sri Lanka – beaches, topography, tea plantations, cities, and historical landmarks. It discusses animals like sea turtles, elephants, leopards - their behaviors, habitats, and what they eat. It also highlights the similarities between the cats and leopards in the story.

The book is well-illustrated, and one can put faces to the cats in the detective agency. The illustrations evoke imagery, and I could easily imagine this story becoming an animated television series. It is written in simple language that is easy to understand with a few new words that can help build up the reader's vocabulary.

There are lots of exciting lessons to learn from the storyline. Children can learn about tolerance from the interaction between Inca and her siblings. There is also an unusual relationship between Inca and Terrance – a dog owned by a detective called Solo. Traditionally, dogs and cats do not get along well, but interestingly these two do. We can use this book to teach children to tolerate others who may be different and interact respectfully and peacefully. Children can also learn teamwork because the agency used cooperation to solve the mystery and catch the thieves.

There is a lovely infusion of wit into this adventure story that will appeal to young readers. It was an enjoyable read. I think it was exceptionally professionally edited because I could not find a single grammatical or typographical error even though I searched thoroughly. I did not dislike any aspect of this story. I highly recommend this book to young children, and I rate it 4 out of 4 stars because it was an entertaining read.
