The Mountain and The Goat is a children’s book written by Siamak Taghaddos and illustrated by Zachary Cain.

This is a short book written in rhyme, from the first-person point of view. The reader goes on the journey of learning useful life lessons. We start on the mountain where a singing goat gives us water and bread. From there, a series of chain events happen that are both entertaining and teachable.

Straightforward writing is a great way to engage the younger audience. The author managed to do it well. This book is trying to teach kids a valuable lesson of being resourceful in a way that is easy to understand. My favorite part is a piece of advice that the goat gives us. “Do as you wish, but plan ahead.” It is a simple way to educate kids on something we adults all know very well, and that is the importance of being organized.

I liked the illustrations. They are very fitting and bring the entire book to a new level. There is nothing I dislike in this book. I appreciate the ending. Naps are often such a triggering word for toddlers. To end a book with a nap is simply perfect. It also shows the importance of resting after hard work.

This book is edited exceptionally well. I didn’t notice any grammatical errors. It was a joy to read and on point with the overall message that the author is trying to share. For those reasons, I rate it a perfect four out of four stars. I can’t rate it any lower. There was nothing I found that bothered me with this book.

I would recommend this book to parents, teachers, babysitters, siblings, and grandparents who are taking care of children under five years of age. It is a perfect chance to read them a book that will be easy to follow but also beneficial to their education.
