Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is a children’s book involving the adventures of Inca, a Siberian cat, and her detective agency. It’s the seventh novel of the Inca Book Series, but it’s not required to read the previous volumes to understand this one. In this story, the cats Inca, Fromage, Cara, and the hamster Charlotte accompany their human Mom on holiday in Sri Lanka. They were enjoying the trip when Inca gets interested in the news of a stolen sword in Colombo’s museum. The cat immediately engages in the investigation for the antiquity and the criminals with her companions. In this journey, she will form new friendships and pass through unthinkable dangers.

This book has beautiful illustrations of the animals portrayed in the texts. The images help children to recognize and learn the characteristics of those fascinating beings. My favorite picture was the one with Rani, the turtle, swimming in the sea with fishes. That’s an excellent approach to teach them and to stimulate their curiosity to understand the world.

What I appreciated the most in this novel were the allusions to famous tourist attractions, such as the oldest planted tree, in Anuradapura. It’s an educative and delightful story since kids can learn about other countries’ habits, histories, arts, and animals. Other aspects that picked my attention were the anthropomorphic pets. They resemble humans, talk to each other, have feelings, thoughts, and singular personalities. This feature makes the narrative even more enjoyable, attractive, and charming.

There’s nothing I didn’t like in this book. The text is well-written and seems professionally edited. Besides, I only noticed a few minor errors in the entire volume.

Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It’s a well-constructed story with mystery and adorable animals. I recommend this novel to parents and children of all ages, particularly for those who like pets, for instance, cats. But also for those adults who enjoy short and lovely tales.

With having read the review and not the story, I believe that this would be a great book for any one old enough to read or to have someone read it to them! Elementary schools are very much in need of interesting, unbiased and educational texts like this one!

Yay! My son will surely love this book. He loves cats! Plus, as pushy as I maybe, the lessons are great for him so I would insist to have him read this book! Thank you for your review!

I like short and lovely tales. On top of that, since it's educative, adult readers may find in it nice stories to entertain their young siblings. Thanks for your great review. I enjoyed it :D .

I love the fact that this book teaches kids about history and other cultures. I also like some of the characters' names, such as Inca (after the ancient civilization) and Fromage (after the French word for cheese).

I'm currently reading a second book in this Inca series and I like how the author has gradually developed the narrator's character.
Thank you for the review.
