Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the seventh book in the Inca book series, a detective series for children about cats.

Inca is a kitten and head of a detective agency and along with her siblings and human mother, she takes a trip to Sri Lanka. There, while enjoying the sun and waves, the kittens find a mysterious sword and some gold coins which have been stolen! Through exploring the island, the kittens and their new friends discover clues as they see the sights in order to solve this mystery.

The setting in this book was well described and the pictures represent it beautifully. The author took time to include special items unique to the island in her story, like when the kittens interact with the turtles and elephants. This provides the opportunity for the readers to learn about a new place and allows kids to explore the island in a fun way.

The plot itself was engaging and easy enough to understand for young readers. With elements that focus on nature, friendship and teamwork, it’s a wonderful story for children. There is a perfect amount of danger and suspense and the plot flows well. I also found the humour to have a good nature and not just be silly. The diary format of the book especially makes it fun to read and makes the reader feel like they are part of the mystery themselves.

I have rated Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally edited and well-formatted and there was nothing that I didn’t enjoy in this story.

I would recommend this book to any children that love animal adventure stories. I always enjoyed stories such as these when I was young, and even now I enjoyed reading it. With cute, well-rounded characters and a captivating story, any child would love this!
