Serendipity Mystery, by R. F. Kristi, is the seventh book in the Inca Cat Detective Series. The book is a stand-alone and colourful one that is amazingly understandable. The story is about Inca and his team of detectives, who are known for solving various crime mysteries. The team was on a mission to recover a valuable old antique sword, and other treasured objects stolen from the main museum in Colombo.

The Human Mom, Missy goes with Inca & Company (which includes Fromage, Charlotte and Cara) to a trip in Sri Lanka. Terrance, a detective dog with Solo-its owner also join the group to solve the mystery of the stolen sword and other treasured objects. While on the mission, the group met other animal characters like a baby elephant (Meena), with Mama Elephant, a turtle (Rani), naughty Monkeys, Mama Leopard with her cubs and others. All these characters play unique roles in solving the crime mystery.

I love the way the author develops each of the characters in the story and how their roles intertwine to promote teamwork. The author, through the story, illustrates vital lessons, and these include the lessons of trust in the family, the courage to face adversities, love for one another even when we make mistakes, and kindness towards others among others. Furthermore, I admire the way the author describes sounds, emotions and feelings and I couldn't help but laugh at the way Babu is described in the book. This shows the humour element in the book.

One thing that does not impress me in the book is a few mistakes I observed while reading it. Notwithstanding, I enjoyed reading it.

Overall, I rate the Serendipity Mystery 4 out of 4 stars, because I found it informative and delightful. I recommend this book to children between 5 to 12 years old. Their teacher and parent can also enjoy the informative facts in the book.
