Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is an adventure and investigative children's book written by R.F. Kristi. It is the seventh book in the Inca Cat Series, and I was glad it could be read as a standalone. This is Inca's diary on a one-week family tour to Sri Lanka.
While on the tour, Inca overhears that an antique sword has been stolen by some thieves who disguised themselves in police uniforms. Solo, a humanoid who had a reputation of solving crimes both domestic and international, is invited by the director of the Colombo to investigate the case of the stolen sword. Inca, being a snoopy cat, decides that the case is his even though he was not formally invited by the authorities to assist with the investigation. Will the humanoid acknowledge Inca and work with him? If not, how will Solo react towards Inca & Company? I was fascinated by how the events played through.
I liked how the how well the wrote and executed this work. Being a diary, its chapters were in the form of the days Inca and the family stayed in Sri Lanka Island. Readers can easily follow through the events Inca experienced in each particular day. Other things I liked were the many lessons the author incorporated in this work. This book covers such areas as tolerance, friendship, teamwork, empathy, and responsibility, among others. For that reason, I believe children will benefit a lot from reading this book.
What I liked the most was the author's promotion of teamwork and team spirit. Inca always acknowledged the efforts of others who in any way facilitated his success. He seemed to always believe that in order to succeed, teamwork is invaluable and people who played part in accomplishing an objective should always be recognized. Apart from enjoying this book, children will, therefore, learn the vital values that will enable them to develop interpersonal skills.
All in all, I didn't find anything to dislike about this book. It seems to have been professionally edited since I found neither grammatical or typographical errors. I'm, therefore, glad to award Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F Kristi 4 out of 4 stars. I really liked the many moral lessons the author incorporated in this book. I highly recommend it to children between the ages of 7-12 who love animals, investigative, and adventure stories. This, of course, with the help of parents. Moreover, adults may find this an interesting read.
