A weak dog trespassed a farmhouse in search of water, food, house, and a family. He was forced from home when his family left due to water contamination. The barnyard buddies were torn between letting him stay and sending him away. However, he did a courageous act that earned the barnyard buddies' trust. Finally, farmer Jim decided to keep him and named him Blue.

In 2019, The Barnyard Buddies Meet a Newcomer by Julie Penshorn was published by Growing Communities for Peace: Smart Tools for Life. It is an illustrated book for children. Kudos to Jeanine-Jonee for the animated layout and radiant illustrations! This book reminds me of the illustrated Aesop's Fables I've read in my elementary years.

Julie Penshorn shared nuggets of wisdom and good traits to both children and adults through this book. A goat named Clover and a horse named King welcomed Blue. A kind pig named Portland offered to share his food anytime. In fear of any possible danger, Grey Donkey and Ol' Dot wanted to send a stranger away. To the rescue was an owl named Mrs. McCloud who volunteered to keep an eye on Blue. With safety in mind, the barnyard buddies did the tasks together and brainstormed ideas that were kind and helpful to a distressed refugee.

The conversations are in simple English yet sensible. I love the inclusion of parent and educator guide, conversation starters, activities, and definitions for clarification. All of them are useful to children and adults alike. The greatest lesson is imparted by Mrs. McCloud: "We can only control our own actions, but often, kindness brings more kindness." Indeed, this book teaches peace, kindness, and wise decision-making.

I have downloaded an old version that has few minor errors. Other than that, I found nothing unlikable in this book. I suggest a better cover photo featuring all the barnyard animals - not just Mrs. McCloud. The Barnyard Buddies Meet a Newcomer by Julie Penshorn deserves nothing less than a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. This book is void of sensitive, religious, and sensual contents, so I recommend it to the general public. Those who think they are old enough for children's books may pass on this one, but all I can say is this: "Nobody won't love this book!"
