The book Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a part of the Scion Saga Series. This is the first book of the series. This book is a distinctive sci-fi fantasy for young adults. The book is centered around 16-year-olds Adam and Carly, descendants of ancient Russian bloodlines. The story is driven by the characters’ supernatural abilities and the severe challenges they face as part of a unique lineage. They possess abilities derived from their ancestry, known for their luminous limbal rings.

The novel Opaque dives deep into themes of self-discovery, identity, and resilience. It explores relationships and the complexities of love. Calix creates an atmosphere that enhances the emotional depth of the narrative. The story balances introspection with action. The dialogue is natural, creating a satisfying reading experience.

The character development is also an excellent aspect of the novel. Each character feels important. It adds a crucial element to the story. Their multifaceted nature allows them to exhibit a variety of feelings that give them an approachable vibe. I can develop a real bond with the characters and become invested in their triumphs, obstacles, and evolution because of the characters' honest representation.

Calix's writing style is also one of the novel's best qualities. There are no grammatical errors due to the careful editing. The language is dramatic. It helps in visualizing the content. Calix writes in a professional yet understated manner. The author has balanced the progression of events with emotional impact. It keeps me engaged without feeling rushed. The flow of the story allows me to fully immerse myself in each scene. It is creating a satisfying experience.

Readers who enjoy stories with a strong emotional core, romance, supernatural fiction, and literary fiction should consider Opaque. I am giving a rating of 5 out of 5 stars to Opaque because it explores love, resilience, and fast-paced action. The character development of the story, emotional depth, and the author’s skillful writing are really great. In my opinion, the book does not contain any shortcomings.
