The novel Opaque by Cālix Leigh-Reign tells the tale of a disturbed young man who discovers he has superpowers and falls in love with a remarkable young girl. They cooperate to protect their family against a group that has been killing and torturing their relatives for many generations. Cālix Leigh-Reign, the author, crafts a gripping story for her young adult readers. From the start of the novel until its dramatic end, the reader will be captivated by its interesting twists and turns. Nevertheless, this is only the beginning of a series of exciting adventures!

This novel has a very complex story, so there's a lot to process. We have multifaceted, multidimensional characters that are in the gray zone, rather than being completely black or white. We get to see them grow throughout time. The world-building is fantastic, with a multitude of powers, a deep past, and a multifaceted narrative that intertwines. This book has an engaging plot that keeps your interest thanks to the distinct character arcs, the overarching story arc, and the seamless integration of all the elements that leave you feeling a range of different emotions. Despite these character defects, the potential of this universe remains unhindered. Any YA Fantasy readers would enjoy this, in my opinion.

I would like to rate this book 4/5. I am deducting one point because I found the beginning of the book a little boring. But once the story picked up the pace, it was almost impossible to keep it down. The editing is perfect; I couldn't find any grammatical mistakes. However, this book discusses themes of incest, sexual violence and mental health issues. Though this book is meant for young adults, I would like to recommend it to those who are on the older spectrum of age, due to the book's handling of such mature and difficult topics. But overall, the novel stands out for its amazing storyline.
