Calix Leigh-Reign's "Opaque" is an excellent young adult fiction book, skillfully combining supernatural elements with complex human emotion. This book is the first of the Scion Saga series, where we are introduced to a world where special powers are mixed with the challenges of teenage years.

"Opaque" centers on Adam, a 16-year-old boy from Piure, California. His life is far from regular. Adam struggles with his dark, sociopathic thoughts and a sense of isolation. until Carly Wit, a new student, becomes a part of his life. Carly's arrival makes Adam aware of his unique abilities and draws them into a long-standing conflict between the Descendants and the Iksha, scientists intent on exploiting their powers. 

Leigh-Reign's strength lies in creating a complex and powerful world-building. The backstory of the Descendants, their Russian roots, and their mystical powers are skillfully integrated into the storyline, giving a compelling backdrop for the story. The suspense and mystery surrounding Adam's origins and the threat posed by the Iksha add more complexity to the story. 

Aside from its supernatural parts, "Opaque" explores themes of love, self-discovery, and growth. Adam's adventure is not just about controlling his powers. It's also about self-discovery and finding his place in society. 

Although "Opaque" is a skillfully written book, it contains adult content like sexual violence, infidelity, and mental health. Also, the book is well formatted. It is expertly proofread and has no grammar mistakes. 

In summary, "Opaque" by Calix Leigh-Reign skillfully mixes supernatural adventure and deep emotion. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It has outstanding world-building and complex relationships, especially between Adam and Carly Wit, with exceptional quality without negative points. 

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy supernatural and fantasy fiction with supernatural powers, secret societies, and a long-standing conflict such as between Descendants and the Iksha.
