Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a young-adult fantasy novel. Adam Caspian feels he has supernatural powers. He quickly learns the startling truth about his ancestry while searching for his birth mother, and he gets to know more about his unique powers. When he meets Carly Wit, she assists him in finding the answers. And they develop romantic feelings for one another along the way.

Emotion and fantasy are interwoven in this beautiful love story. I adored how the author described magic and action. The magic-related action scenes were written in a style that made them very simple to read. Additionally, the magical sequences were very captivating. Once Adam meets Carly, his dark mind begins to lighten. Their chemistry was lovely throughout the entire narrative. Their love, in my opinion, is a compelling plot point. The suspense in the narrative around Adam's family is another important element.

This story follows a chase game between exceptional Russian families with special abilities and the Iksha (a gang of scientists) who are seeking the members of the specific Russian families for their superpowers. It took me a few chapters to get engaged in the book. But once I understood the plot and got to know the characters, I became engrossed in the narrative and the characters. And before long, I was not able to put the book down. This book was flawless in every way.

The book has everything a reader is looking for. The anticipation built up to the spectacular turns. The magical action and the teen drama reminded me of "The Vampire Diaries" series. This book has a strong plot and excellent narration. The characters were fantastic. It also has people with superpowers. Who doesn't enjoy a book with all of the mentioned elements? There are no grammatical mistakes in the book. Nothing negative can be said about this book. Considering all of these points, I am giving this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

If you're looking for an exciting romantic fantasy adventure, start reading the novel Opaque. After a few chapters, you will be hooked immediately. Despite of being a young adult novel, I would recommend this book to a more mature audience who fall within the 18–25 age range. Specifically, this novel would appeal to readers above the age of 25 who appreciate a good fantasy-mystery story.
