Review of Opaque
Opaque by Cālix Leigh-Reign catapults readers into the life of Adam Caspian, a brooding teen with a disdain for the mundane world around him. Adam is introspective and struggles with a sense of alienation, feeling disconnected from the world due to his unique genetic heritage as a descendant. This heritage endows him with extraordinary abilities that he is initially unaware of but comes to discover and grapple with throughout the narrative.
This narrative undergoes a significant turn as he encounters Carly Wit, who shares his Descendant lineage, and together they navigate the complexities of their identities, powers, and the dangers posed by the Iksha, who are intent on targeting Descendants. The story races through adrenaline-fueled scenes of discovery, betrayal, and supernatural feats as Adam and Carly face the Iksha, a formidable enemy with sinister plans. The stakes are high, as they must protect their kind and uncover the motives of those who seek to control them.
What I like about this book is the character Dauma. She's like a wise leader who knows a lot and helps guide the younger ones. When things get tough with the Iksha militants, she steps up big time. She's strong and always looking out for everyone, which makes you like her. It's characters like her that make you get into the story because they're brave and kind of like a shield for the others. It's pretty awesome how she's written to be so powerful and caring at the same time.
There is nothing to dislike about this book because it's got all these amazing supernatural parts. The idea that there are people with special powers, called descendants, is super cool. If you're into fantasy or sci-fi, you'll love this. It's not just regular life stuff; it's got this extra layer that makes everything more exciting. You get to imagine all these powers and what it would be like to have them. It's like the book takes you to another world where anything can happen. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because one of the best parts is the character Dauma. She's like a wise leader who's always there to guide others, especially when things get tough with the Iksha militants. Dauma's strength and caring nature make her a character you root for. She adds an extra layer of excitement to the story with her bravery and protectiveness towards the others. The book's rating is not affected because it's filled with amazing supernatural elements. The idea of people having special powers, called descendants, is super cool. If anyone is interested in fantasy or sci-fi, this book is perfect for them. It takes one to a whole new world where anything can happen, making it an exciting read. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy or sci-fi stories with strong characters and thrilling adventures.
