"Opaque" by Calix Leigh-Reign is a riveting exploration of Adam's tumultuous journey through the small city of Piure. The narrative delves into the inner struggles of a teenage boy who grapples with societal norms, presenting a gripping tale of taboo thoughts and the feeling of alienation. The story kicks off with Adam attempting to blend into the fabric of society, yet his divergent thoughts make him feel like an outcast, particularly his complex emotions toward his parents.

The novel takes a dark turn when Adam's suppressed emotions explode, leading him to pursue a girl who eerily resembles his mother. This choice sets off a chain of chaotic events that plunge the protagonist into a world of turmoil. It's at this juncture that the plot takes an intriguing twist with the introduction of Carly, a girl who shares Adam's sense of being different. Their encounter unravels hidden secrets and awakens supernatural abilities, propelling the story into a realm of unpredictability.

The initial ambiguity of the book may throw some readers off, but perseverance proves rewarding as the narrative evolves into an enthralling and exciting tale. Leigh-Reign skillfully weaves a storyline that keeps the audience engaged, building suspense and intrigue with each chapter. The absence of errors enhances the reading experience, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the unfolding drama.

The strength of "Opaque" lies in its ability to seamlessly blend elements of psychological turmoil, mystery, and supernatural intrigue. The author successfully creates a world where the boundaries between reality and the supernatural blur, captivating readers with unexpected twists and turns. The characters, especially Adam and Carly, are well-developed, adding depth to the narrative.

In conclusion, "Opaque" is a compelling read that navigates the complexities of teenage emotions, societal expectations, and the discovery of extraordinary abilities. Despite a potentially confusing start, the novel unfolds into a captivating story that earns its 5 out of 5 stars. Calix Leigh-Reign's adept storytelling and the well-crafted plot make "Opaque" a commendable addition to the realm of supernatural fiction.
