Review of Opaque
"Opaque," the first book in the Scion Saga Series by Calix Leigh-Reign, transports readers on an exciting adventure. The narrative centers on 16-year-olds Adam and Carly, who are descended from extinct Russian bloodlines. They learn they have magical powers and are always in danger of being wiped out by an elite group of scientists known as the Iksha. Adversity, bravery, and drive are combined excitingly in the story to create a unique young adult fantasy experience.
Excellent character development and a compelling mythology that gives the narrative depth are features of Leigh-Reign's writing style. The story takes place in a universe where the heroes, who can be recognized by their bright Limbal Rings, have to overcome bloodline conflicts and band together with other bloodlines to survive. By tackling delicate topics and taboo subjects like Oedipus, rage, and despair, the series moves the storyline beyond the confines of the conventional coming-of-age tale.
The author adds captivating turns that keep readers interested, and the book is well rendered. The reader's experience is improved by Leigh-Reign's use of picturesque language, which conjures up graphic imagery of locations like Adam's den, the protagonists' Limbal Rings, and suspenseful fighting scenes. The narrative explores psychological power, dysfunction, and moral and ethical dilemmas in addition to supernatural components, giving readers a complex and thought-provoking read.
In terms of tempo and specific character facets, "Opaque" is a compelling addition to the Scion Saga Series. A well-designed world-building combined with the incorporation of supernatural aspects and threats from the real world results in an immersive experience. The novel offers possibilities for further investigation in later volumes, indicating an intriguing continuation of the series.
"Opaque" is an action-packed, highly emotional young adult novel that will appeal to readers who like young adult literature with a supernatural edge. It is a suggested read for anyone looking for an engrossing fantasy adventure because of its complex plot, compelling character interactions, and promise of more development in the series. Readers who enjoy young adult fantasy books will be delighted to see more from The Scion Saga after reading Calix Leigh-Reign's debut.
Ultimately, I found the novel to be quite satisfying and entertaining in many ways. Excellent word choices and a perfect writing style are also included in the book, making it easier to read through to the end. I would therefore like to give the book a rating of five out of five, as there isn't a single point for disliking it, which would devalue it.
