Opaque is rated as a 4 out of 5 since it is not a personal favorite of mine to read, but it was a hard book to put down. This book is listed as a young adult genre, but I got a suspense, sci-fi, and thriller genres mixed in there as well since I had gotten a creeped out feeling throughout the book. Opaque was hard to put down because of the thrilling suspense and the emotional thrill surrounding the characters of Adam and Carly. It inspired curiosity that could not be quenched until the book was finished. The grammar looked to be professionally edited, and usually young adult books are a spicy 4 to 5 rating, Opaque I would say as a 1 or one and a half rating in sexual content because it was hardly mentioned. This book focused more on the suspense of secrets to carry out the plot rather than let the teenage hormones of the characters carry the book along.

The only negative aspect I would say about Opaque would be that it was kind of hard for me to follow. One scene would be split up into two different scenes by the same character point of view. Other than that, I loved the suspense, I loved the mystery, and I loved the detail put into each individual character that had a part along Adam and Carly’s journey to find answers and truth and put a stop to the Ishka.

Additionally, the emotional ups and downs pulled onto your heartstrings while simultaneously making you feel creeped out by the emotional attachment between the characters in the story. It made me feel like I wanted to be them but not really simultaneously.

Overall, Opaque was a power packed emotional thrill that is a must read. Once picked up, it is hard to put down, and you’re in for one wild ride of secrets and supernatural.
