Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is an adventurous romantic young adult novel that follows the life of Adam. The simple life of Adam undergoes a drastic change after the arrival of a new girl at school named Carly. He starts noticing changes in his emotions and physical traits. He and Carly both began to develop an attraction for each other and a relationship later on. As soon as Adam starts to get comfortable and happy with life getting back to normal, he finds out that he is adopted and that Carly is keeping secrets from him. He searches for his real identity and to find his family. He comes to know that he comes from an ancestor group that has special powers. Carly teaches him how to use his powers, and they embark on an adventure to find and safeguard his world.

I loved reading this book. The way Adam starts to mature and the different emotions he experiences are so powerful and can relate to many older teenagers. The way he discovers his past. Finding new relationships and becoming strong for the love of his people is quite a phenomenon. I also loved how Carly was such an amazing and encouraging person to Adam. She supported him and always stood with him. Carly became one of the best and most powerful characters in the story through her pain and support for Adam.

There wasn't anything that I disliked about this book. The coming of age of the characters and the description of special and adventurous moments are so amazingly detailed and informative. The author has an amazing plot, and the setting in this story is perfect. This story is fast-paced and relatively easy to read and understand.

I rate this book five out of five stars due to the reasons above. This book has no errors as it has been professionally edited. I liked that the author added more books to this series, and I would love to read them. This book is insightful and astonishing.

I recommend this book to teenagers over the age of sixteen due to its coming-of-age themes and the fact that Adam is also sixteen in this book. I also recommend this book to adults who like adventure and fantasy novels.
