In The Adventures of Uncle Billy & Ross, Solon Phillips, Esq. provides valuable life lessons through the eyes of Uncle Billy. Ross Miller is a thirteen-year-old boy raised by a single mother in the rough part of town. Ross gets off the bus at his Uncle Billy’s house every afternoon after school and stays there until his mother gets off work. Every afternoon, Uncle Billy gives Ross some insight into how to live a better life and be a better person. When Ross comes to Uncle Billy with a problem, Uncle Billy knows just what to say to change little Ross’s perspective. He uses these stories and life lessons to shape Ross into the man he knows he can become. Through the stories and advice from Uncle Billy, Ross slowly transforms his mind and attitude, which changes his outlook on life. Although Uncle Billy’s lessons are meant for Ross, the readers can also discover a lot about themselves.

I rate this book four out of five stars. I love how simplistic this book is. There are only two main characters in the book, and everything takes place at Uncle Billy’s house. It is also easy to read and follow. Even though Uncle Billy gives these lessons to a young boy, youth and adult readers can benefit from this book. Uncle Billy is full of wisdom that everyone should hear and consider. It can change the reader’s outlook on life, just like Ross’s. The only thing I don’t like about The Adventures of Uncle Billy & Ross is that there is no plot to follow, and the ending is abrupt. The story is not continuous; the events in one chapter do not carry forward to the next chapter. Some of the scenarios left me wondering about the outcome. Overall, this book is very informative, and I would recommend everyone to read it.
