Orinthia by M.E. follows a girl named Orinthia who has severe generalized anxiety. She hears about an experimental drug trial that provides free therapy and claims to cure mental illness. She undergoes this trial for a year before realizing it ended up working but not in the way she expects. The trial ends up giving her the power of telekinesis. It's also giving the other participants powers but the people running the trial want to extract and sell the powers and discard the carriers. Orinthia and her friend Coy start up an investigation to figure out whats going on with the trial and try to find a way to stop it.

I loved this book. It was an easy to follow read while also going in depth into how mental health can affect different people and just how many there are out there. The main focus was on Orinthia and how she had generalized anxiety with a bunch of other issues under that umbrella. It was nice to connect with some of what she was going through and helped me understand her as a character and just be even more invested in the read. I thought it was very creative to see the portrayal of superpowers in conjunction with mental illness since to me it was a fictional way of describing how people learn to cope and handle their mental illness in a more healthy and productive way. It was disheartening to hear how the trial refers to the participants behind their backs though because today that is truly how many, many people still think in regards to mental illness. Overall it was a very eye-opening experience and is a clever way of portraying everyday issues.

In the book there were about 4-5 typos including recurring ones. It is not a very sexual book though the main character often daydreams about starting families with many of the male characters and thinks about kissing. Swearing/profanities are kept fairly innocent so there's not a lot if any harsh swears.

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I would give it five if not for the editing errors otherwise it was an amazing read.
