After finishing the book I would give it a rating of a 3 out of 5. Throughout reading I noticed about 20 spelling and grammar errors before I stopped keeping track of them. The story line of the book was enjoyable, but at some points it became difficult to understand how much time had passed from one event to the next. Some of the dialogue began sounding quite cliché and cheesy as if the writer was struggling to come up with different ways to write the same idea. For these reasons I deducted 2 points. I would have also liked to see some more backstory regarding the beginning characters and Bristle’s relationship with Bushytail in particular. It felt as if the beginning chapters were rushed and the author was eager to get to the arrival at High Clowder. Although some of the storyline seemed rushed, i enjoyed the entire story overall. I didn’t have any information to go off of aside from the cover of the book before reading, so I was initially skeptical. But I was pleasantly surprised and found myself wanting to keep reading. Despite my satisfaction with this book, upon seeing there is a sequel, I don’t think I’d be inclined to read it. I like the way this story ended, and because what I read in this book, I have a feeling I wouldn’t enjoy the outcome of the sequel. Unfortunately I can’t expand on this point without spoilers.
