The Crystilleries of Echoland by Pellucid is an exciting tale about espionage and murder with a parallel world. It tells the story of William Cleary. The parallel world called Echoland. When one person is born in one world “sound”, another is born in Echoland called an “echo”. Will is in danger because of his echo who is the prince of Echoland.
Because of his “echo”, Will needs to hide within Echoland to escape assassins who want to ensure that his echo does not become king. While running from Fate Stealers, Will and his friends go about trying to save Echoland. They go about trying to figure out who is to be trusted and who is not to be trusted. Throughout each step, Will has to learn who is one of his friends and who isn’t. He needs to learn about the rules of this new world and who ultimately wants him dead. With each new discovery, Will finds that he needs to rely on others to remain safe as well as find freedom for Echoland.
I would give this book a 5 out of 5. There were no grammatical or spelling mistakes. Because of the new world and their wording, there were spellings that made me think that it was spelt incorrectly but it was consistent in the writing within the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories with new worlds with exciting plots.
I liked the relationship within the book. The friendships between the boys and their animals were wonderful. They were supportive throughout the entire journey. I enjoyed the final trial. With spiders, whirlpools, heated rocks, and more, the boys needed to go together and work together to free the land. They needed both their sounds and their echos to access the place for freedom.
I found it hard to follow some of the world’s rules. I often found myself needing to go back and reread parts to understand what was happening within the world. I also had a difficult time with some with the pain and harm done to some of the characters. It was a bit too much for me. Also the epilogue was a bit strange for me.
The story was a lot of fun and enjoyable. It was a trilling story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story keeps moving making you feel that even when you think you know everything, there is still more to learn.
