In this unpredictable story, you will meet Adam. A teenage boy who never felt like he belonged. Adam viewed other humans as animals that didn’t deserve his attention. Until he met the new girl at his school named Carly, Adam learns he is not like the other kids at his school, and with the help of Carly he becomes entwined in another life outside of what he grew up in.

In Opaque: Scion Saga I think the beginning of the book should have some trigger warnings, especially being this is a young adult book and there are mentions of kidnapping, rape, depression, murder, and an unorthodox relationship with Adams’s mother. The only thing author Calix Leigh-Reign does have is an author note that mentions taboo imperfections. The genre of a young adult can reference a wide age range, and if you are not equipped to handle such situations this book may not be for you, and I think that should be addressed.

There were just a few things I didn’t like about Opaque: Scion Saga. One is the Russian language. I would have loved it if there was translation behind the words or sentences, being that I couldn’t pronounce the words on the page. Another obstacle I had a hard time getting around was the implications he had towards his mother. Even though later in the story it is explained, and I did start to understand why the author put it in the detail. It was still weird to read and at first, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to finish the book.

I am glad I pushed through though because I do love a good story, and author Calix indeed did an exceptional job at the character development and the details of the plot. This book was a page-turner that kept you guessing. I would give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I’m giving this book a 4 out of 4 stars because of how well it was written. Along with the perfect storyline, the book was well edited. I did not find any errors when reading.

As I stated above this is a young adult book. So, I think anyone with the intellect to understand and separate fiction scenarios from non-fiction would enjoy the supernatural and somewhat taboo side of this book. I would read the second book in this Saga. The way it ended honestly has me wondering what will happen in the series.
