Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a fantasy/mystery novel. Many interesting individuals appear in the tale, but Adam Caspian and Carly Wit are the main protagonists. Adam has a lot of dark thoughts, such as considering most humans to be animals. One would hate him so much at the start of the story but wait till you get to the part where he meets Carly. Does meeting Carly change him for good? That is not going to be the main content of the story. There is more. Adam finds out that there are more things in the world than he knew in his whole life.

One could feel that Adam could not possibly be the story's hero in the start. To get through the first few chapters of the book, some patience was required. However, as the story progressed, we could see Adam's reasons for doing what he did. The narrative thickens as Adam learns more about his heritage and discovers Carly's secrets. The dark Adam moves towards the path of light after meeting Carly. His love for Carly is one of the main aspects of the story that I liked.

The tale was enhanced by the plot line about the special abilities possessed by the descendants of specific Russian families and the scientists known as Iksha hunting them down. All of the chasing and action sequences in the story were enjoyable. The development of Adam's character and the chapters describing the superpowers were two aspects of the narration that I enjoyed. If these superpowers' portions are not written effectively, it may even be difficult to understand. The author did an excellent job in that section, as I was able to imagine every detail. There were no other drawbacks other than the fact that the plot took some time to get into. I can't stop reading the book once I have become immersed in it.

The novel was full of suspense, twists, and secrets. It was packed with teen drama, romance, and action scenes involving superpowers. The story was well-written, accurate, and free of errors. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the book. As a result, I would give this book a 4 out of 4 stars.

The novel Opaque is a whole package that we expect from the young adult genre, and it has led me on an exhilarating adventure. This is a book I would suggest to others. According to the young adult genre, this book is appropriate for readers between the ages of 18 and 25. This work would appeal to readers above the age of 25 who enjoy a good fantasy-mystery story.
