The Crystilleries of Echoland by Dew Pellucid begins with a 12 year old boy named Will learning of a magical realm called Echoland. Echoland is filled with see-through reflections of our world. These reflections are called Echos while those born to our realm are called Sounds. Will discovers that his Echo is a member of the Royal family and legitimate heir to the throne; and he is in need of Will's help. Echoland inhabitants follow the word of fate sealers and fortune tellers as fortune favors those that follow their decrees. One such decree is that an Echo must be put to death when their sound dies. This may be the reason Will and his sister were kidnapped as toddlers. However, Will returned alone and with no memories. To discover what happened to his sister and to aid his Echo, Will resolves to travel to Echoland. Will he be able to find his sister? With his new found friends, will they be able to save Echoland from the evil that seeks to gain power?

Magic, mystery, murder, and mayhem are a perfect recipe for excitement for readers. Pellucid has drawn in a new generation that seeks adventure while traveling through magical realms, solving mysteries, and saving the day! Pellucid describes the character and lands in such detail one can picture it as if there in front of them. The story progresses at a quick speed, never giving one time to lose interest. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was disappointed when it ended and I had to leave my imagination and return to the real world.

My only negative thing to say about this book is that Pellucid has so many vivid characters and interesting settings that I often found myself confused. It took a while to keep some of the characters straight and remember if they were good guys or bad guys. If this book was part of a series it would work better as there would be more room for the characters to grow as such they are limited to this book.

I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars. As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed the book. It was both exciting and drew in my imagination. Despite my issue with the characters that wasn't something that warranted the loss of a star. I didn't notice any grammatical errors so I believe it was professionally edited.

I would recommend this book for kids in upper Elementary and Middle School since its characters are mostly children of that age. However it is also an enjoyable read for adults as well. There was no bad language or adult scenes. This book is for those that enjoy fantasy and don't mind things a little creepy, as some of the creatures in the story were a little disturbing to imagine. Additionally there are murders that take place in the book, however they aren't super detailed or disgusting.
