Vagabond is an intriguing young adult paranormal novel written by Mary AJ. This action packed story follows the daughter of Satan after she decides she no longer wants to play the ruthless Princess of Hell that she has enjoyed for centuries. Our main character, Cecilia Harrow finds herself enmeshed in the world of rich boarding school students as she seeks to hide from her father and experience what life is like as a normal human being. She soon discovers that this is easier said than done. She becomes involved with a young man that captures her attention from the first time that she sees him, and she discovers that there is more than meets the eye on the campus of Cornelia High.

This book does a great job describing what Cecilia is thinking and feeling as we follow her tale, making this novel easy to place oneself into the story and bringing the characters to life. We as readers get to take part in the inner struggle as she fights her dark side and strives to be worthy of the one she loves. The struggle is made more difficult by a demon boy who appeals to her dark side and tempts her to stray from her goal to become more human. There is a perfect balance of intense battle scenes and romantic moments to make this saga fun to read.

I could find nothing to dislike about this novel, there were barely even any technical errors to speak of. It’s a book that I can see myself picking up to reread repeatedly in the future.

I give this tale a 4 out of 4 star rating. This was a book that I devoured every step of the way!!!! I was captivated by the story so much that I couldn’t put the book down and finished it all in one sitting. Based on the surprise ending we can look forward to a sequel in which we can follow the story of Cecilia even further. I will be the first in line for that continuation.

I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys young adult stories that contain the paranormal, battles, romance and mystery. This story also would pique the interest of anyone who prefers tales that are from the perspective of characters who are traditionally the villain. Though I would warn anyone who tends to be squeamish that the violence can get intense and descriptive at times.
