Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a fantasy, supernatural romance novel following the lives of young Adam and Carly. However, Adam and Carly are not your average teenagers. While other teenagers in their town are worried about the latest party or their next selfie, they both have underlying problems more complex than the next can even imagine. What they both have in common is vast secrets bursting at the seams to be released. Opaque offers readers the chance to live in their Sci-Fi dream world while also falling in love.

Adam is a 16-year-old recluse who has a strong distaste for human society. Having no empathy for anyone besides his mother, he goes through life looking down on everyone and questioning their mere existence. Having never thought anyone could make him feel any other feeling besides disgust, he meets Carly, whom he tends to be inexplicably enthralled by. Not only does Carly intrigue Adam but she seems to have something quite off about herself as well.

Carly is a beautiful girl who is used to a life of solitude due to her parent's overprotectiveness. Before moving to Piure, she rarely left the house other than attending school and never had any friends her age. Thinking her life would be the same here as it once was in Minnesota, she intended to keep her head down and breeze through senior year. Piure, has other plans for Carly including, love. Stepping into her classroom on her first day at Keetering High the first pair of eyes she locks with is owned by no other than Adam Caspian.

At first, Adam and Carly tried to deny and avoid their constant need to be around each other but, they eventually give up and let nature take its course. After succumbing to their desires, it's clear that neither of them wants to be apart ever again. Soon they will find out they are more connected than they can imagine.

Readers who enjoy being transported into a world where the impossible is possible will love Opaque. Not only does this novel take you on a captivating getaway it also showcases an undying bond between two teenagers willing to weather any storm for one another.

I enjoyed reading this novel and will surely reread it in the future! I love how the characters were perfectly imperfect and felt realistic. Not a single aspect feels cliché which kept me intrigued. One positive thing about this book for me is the impactful changes. Many characters go through changes that impact them and their relationships. I have no negative viewpoints about this novel.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4. Opaque is the definition of a fantasy world you don't want to escape. Opaque earned this rating because of how truly original and diverse the novel is! With no errors to be distracted by it was easy to fall in love with this book. I'm excited for what's to come in the next book of this Sci-Fi saga!
