Opaque is the first book in the series "Scion Saga" by Calix Leigh-Reigh. The Sci-Fi and thriller young adult novel revolves around the passionate and whole-hearted love between Adam and Carly.

The scenario starts with a sixteen-year-old Adam, unaware of the reality that he is the descendant of one of the seven biologically evolved groups from Russia, possessing extraordinary powers. He is a sociopath and in the first part of the book attracted sensually towards his mother, JoAnn. Carly, who is also from a biologically evolved bloodline of a different group and, familiar with her roots, joins the school where Adams studies. They become friends. Adams always wants to be at peace with him only, but this is the first time in school that he felt good in someone's company.

They fall in love with each other. Their bond strengthens and love gets deeper with time. Later, Adams meets an accident and finds that he is adopted and not the real son of his parents. In a quest to know who he is and what his real name is, Adams finds that he is a decedent of the Rozovsky Group, one of the seven bloodlines who had a rare genetic mutation within their DNA and can manipulate matter with their mind. Carly explains to Adams everything about the history of his ancestors with the help of her mother, Dauma. He got to know that Iksha, a Russian elite scientists' group, has been doing experiments and killing ancestors for centuries. They have been running after the people who exhibit the traits by flashing the Limbal Ring. The story continues with how they face Iksha and team up with some members of other bloodline descendants. The climax of the story is really fascinating.

I liked the pure love and profound connection between Adams and Carly that developed indestructible faith between them. There is a huge role-play of Carly in shaping the character of Adams. There are so many characters in the story. However, the author describes them excellently. The story is easily imaginative and engaging. I didn't feel like closing the story and it kept me glued to every page. It is brilliantly written by Calix. The suspense and thriller keep on increasing with every new chapter. While I was reading it felt like watching a movie.

There isn't much in it that I didn't like except some of the dialogues are written in Russian. They should have been given along with English translation. This book includes incidences of violence, rape, and eroticism, which can be disturbing to some people. So my advice is that if any person is going to read this, then take care of these things in advance.

Plot twists are mind-blowing. I would happily rate Opaque 4 out of 4 stars. This book is professionally edited and I hardly found any errors. There were no spelling mistakes. I will recommend this book to young adults who love romance, Sci-Fi, action, thriller, and suspense.
