Paradise Rising by P.G. Shriver is a young adult fantasy story. A thirteen- year-old girl named Cheater is wanted for murder. How? She isn't quite sure. She has a strange gift to cheat death. Cheater is in foster care because she lost her parents in an accident. She has been in many foster homes and they all seem to have a similar story as her parents. Cheater always survives. She passes out and when she wakes up people are saying that she changed their lives. However, Cheater has no idea what she has done.

When Cheater decided to stop a mugging, she met a Fifteen-year-old, Jaz. His life has also been changed by Cheater. The only difference is that Jaz also has a strange gift, reading her mind. Can Cheater and Jaz discover why Fate linked them together before they land up in jail?

I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the characters. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about this book. It kept me hooking until the very end.

I would give this book four out of four stars.
