I read the book Island Games by Caleb J. Boyer and I would give the book a 3/4 rating. I’m giving this book a 3/4 because there is one typo in the book on page 158, it says “They boys were astonished, but they knew the battle had just begun” It should say “The boys…”, otherwise the book itself was amazing.

This story is about two boys, Matthew and Ryan, who wake up on the shore of a mysterious island. They have no recollection of how they got there or why, or who put them there. Soon they embark on a dangerous, adrenaline-pumping journey involving puzzles and beasts to find a way off of the island. They must rely on the trust and friendship of one another if they want to survive. The endearment and deep friendship that the boys have for each other strengthens as the book develops. I believe it encompasses the message that friendship can conquer even the most trying circumstances. They are faced with extremely dangerous trials that make them believe that someone put them there for some twisted reason. However, they are unable to ascertain as to who could possibly want to put them in these challenging situations and what they could be gaining from all that the boys have to go through.

This book has unexpected turns around every corner that kept me intrigued and excited to read the book. It kept me hungry to read more and it was a real page-turner, I could barely put it down. The plot twists and the trials and tribulations that the main characters had to endure where fascinating and kept me reading late into the night. I really enjoyed the excellent writing style that the author executed in the book and the way that the plot kept me reading. It was a very enjoyable book and I would recommend this book to anyone, in fact, I already have!

This book is supposed to be aimed for young adults, or teenagers. However, I believe that this book is suitable for all ages. It is a clean and wholesome book that anyone can read. There are no profanities or erotic scenes in this book; it was an exciting and refreshing book to read. I, as an adult, found this book to be a quick read, however; a very good book in and of itself. It was nice to read a book that was devoid of profanities and erotic scenes, yet still kept me captivated enough to finish the book rather quickly.

In conclusion, this book is an amazing read. It kept me captivated and intrigued throughout the entire book. The writing style was exquisite, for a book that is supposed to be aimed at young adults. The twists in the plot and the dangerous trials that the boys must endure kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This is the type of book that I wish and hope there is a second in the series, for I would read that in a heartbeat.
