Opaque is a book written by Calix Leigh-Reign. It is written in a first person narrative story. It is a story that beautifully intertwines teenage romance with sci-fi. It focuses on the lives of Adam and Carly. Adam, like all teenagers, was finding it hard to settle in school. He had to pretend for most of the school hours. Meanwhile, he had a strange relationship with his father, having a complete hatred for him. His mother, JoAnn, on the other hand, was a beautiful woman respected and loved by Adam. Their connection was inevitable. What draws them together? Carly was a beautiful, young girl who caught the eyes of Adam on the first day at school. Their friendship evolved in a blink of an eye. Unknown to them, they shared a similar energy. They were from a common ancestor called the Descendants. These Descendants were seven in total making each bloodline a target for their enemies called the Iksha. Their affection soon endured a hard trial. Did they survive the fall? How well can you fight for the ones you love when things go awry?

I am wowed by the characters in the book especially the way the mutants displayed their energy core and lumbal rings. I so much loved Adam's power. All I did was to smile especially when he was summoning Zhita, the name he gave to wind. Have you seen a couple with different characters? Don't go too further. The way Adam and Carly were portrayed in the story was amazing. They were completely the opposite of one another, making them so compatible and even. Adam, for instance seemed so cruel and sophisticated. Sometimes, I had to imagine how a teenager could possess dangerous weapons. But by the end of the story, he became so different. His love for Carly had greatly changed him. What a power of love!

The twists and turns in this story were so good. For instance, it was believed that Adam's family line was the strongest among the Descendants. But it was revealed that Carly's bloodline was. I barely noticed any errors in the book. This book is exceptionally well written and edited.

The plot, writing style and the characters were all fully developed. I must confess to checking my dictionary many times as I had never heard or seen most of the words before. This is really go good. Undoubtedly, I can't complain of learning new words. The suspense in the book was so captivating and intriguing. It is so hard to hate any elements in the book.

I strongly recommend this book to any person who loves sci-fi books or action packed books. I rate this book four out of four stars. The plot of the story was sequentially arranged with a nice title to each chapter to support the events of the story. I am looking forward to reading another book by Calix. I found this interesting.
