Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a Young Adult Fantasy novel. The author has created a splendid story of a sixteen-year-old high school senior, Adam Caspian. In the beginning of the story, Adam behaves like a sociopath and has a lustful desire towards his mother that he knows his wrong. He is violent and struggles with his inner darkness. The change in his behavior occurs when Carly enters his life.

Carly Wit is a descendant with supernatural powers. She has recently moved to a small town of Piure, California from Minnesota to escape from the IKSHA. IKSHA is a Russian group made by mad scientists to capture descendants in a motive to destroy them. After arriving to Piure, Adam and Carly fell in love with each other unexpectedly. They both became inseparable. Carly identified the darkness within the Adam and helped him to get over it by spreading her good vibes. Together they found that Adam is also a descendant like Carly, but how? They both decide to identify the secret behind Adam’s ancestry, behavior and powers within him. Did they identify the secret and escape from the IKSHA?

I liked the woman characters in this novel. They are very much powerful and intelligent. The part of the novel I liked is when Adam controls his anger towards Kane and respected Carly’s feelings. I liked the way author carried on Adam’s relationship with Carly throughout entire story. I also liked how the author portrayed the supernatural powers of other descendants. It’s just simply amazing.

I dislike the Mark’s character. He betrayed his wife and does not add much to the story. I also disliked the description about Adam’s den environment which made me feel little annoyed. Other than this there’s nothing I disliked about the novel. The twists and turns in this novel kept me curious to read further without taking an eye away from it. I’m droned in the place till the completion of this novel.

I rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars because I was able to visualize the entire story. It was amazing. I really applaud the author for this magnificent story of a sixteen-year-old high school senior. I’m enthusiastically looking forward to reading the Split Adam which is a book two of scion saga series by Calix Leigh-Reign. I also recommend this book to the mature young adults who expect the romance along with the fantasy.

I read the second book without having read the first. I was completely confused. I've never gone back and read the first, but I probably should. Especially since you give it such a high rating. Thanks!

I often really enjoy young adult novels and this one has some aspects that make it seem a little more mature, so this could be a good quick read for me! Thanks for the review, I'll have to check this book out!
