Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign has exceeded my expectations. If you are able to overcome the first two chapters which are very dark, this novel turns out to be very interesting in adding a human species that could very well exist.

This novel is mostly geared towards teenagers but for those of us who are young at heart? This book is also for you. I totally enjoyed this 4 out of 4 stars rating book. We meet a young man who feels at odds with his surroundings. He cannot fathom why this is so. Along comes a young woman, Carly, mid-year of the school term who seems to have a strong connection to our young man, Adam. Carly, also feels this connection and is curious as to why. As the days progress you find out who Carly is and that she possess powers that no one else possesses. Unlike Adam, she grew up knowing of these powers. Adam was adopted into a "normal" family. We then learn that there are 7 Russian family bloodlines called Descendants and what each of these bloodlines are able to bring to the table. They are not out to destroy the world but to make it into a better place to live. There are of course another group of people who are not as kind and the Descendants are out to eradicate this group.

What I enjoyed the most in this book is how seamlessly the action takes place. Very easy to follow and very well edited so as to not distract from the storyline. There was nothing I disliked about the story. All characters fit in well with each other and all questions as to who is who is well integrated in the storyline. The short chapters also helped with the pace of how events happen.

As I read this book there were no typos to be found. The editing of this book was very well done.

Opaque is a sci-fi novel where you recognize locations and is a fun novel to disappear into as a reader. There is something for both genders to enjoy from teenager to adult.
