I was a little skeptical when starting Code name: Dodger by Eric Auxier. I like spy movies but haven't really read a spy novel before. I picked this book because the outline peaked my interest. Let me just say, wow, I was completely and totally hooked on this book. It was very hard to put it down. If I didn't have two small kids I would have finished this book in one to two days tops.

Having the story follow a young teenager whose been pulled into the middle of a world of spies and survival was a really good turn on what could have easily been "just another predictable spy story". What I liked most about this book was that I found myself rooting for 'Dodger' and getting excited with how his character grew from one chapter to the next. There were a few predictable parts but I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected action scenarios that occurred.

I will most definitely be recommending "Code name: Dodger" to everyone I know that likes spy novels and even those who don't typically. The chapters are about twenty pages give or take and it's not a long drawn out plot where you are waiting 5 chapters for something to happen. I think this book is more geared toward young adults. However adults will like it too.

I wouldn’t recommend this book for anyone who also likes a good romance vibe in their novels. This book doesn’t have any due to its target audience. Plus it being a shorter book I don’t think there would be anywhere to fit it in, it takes time to “build relationships” and that would add length to the book yes but i think it would have taken away a bit from the rising suspense. I believe this book could easily be turned into a movie.

I thought the level of creativeness in the story and plot of this book was definitely worth a 4 out of 4 stars. There were a few mistakes, but let's be honest all books have mistakes somewhere. Due to the seven that I found I will rate the book a 3 out of 4 stars, but once those are fixed I see no reason why it wouldn't be a perfect score. It was an extremely fun and interesting book to read, I re-read books all the time. I would definitely read this book again one day.
