The book Unhinged by Steve Galley is a great story about the main character’s, Eddie, struggle with his mental torments, that constantly haunt him while trying to save his friend from further downward spiral of self-destructive behavior, drugs and all the stuff that comes with it. He’s constantly trying to save everyone while trying to run from his mental torments. While never letting anyone know what’s going on with him, to his family or friends.
I would rate this book a 3 out of 4. The reason for the rating I gave is because the book has some typos and I think the book hasn’t reached its full potential as far as the storyline goes. The thing I like about this book was is the mix of humor with the drama in the storyline. I think I would like to better understand the main character’s torments or issues to better understand why he is the way he is. I love how the story is relatable to some people with different types of issues or those who want to try to save a friend or family member from similar situations. Personally, I think it took a little too long to get to all the good parts.
I think this book is not for kids under the age of 16. The story is not very vulgar at all, so it’s suitable for people in high school. The audience or readers of the story fit the young adult, drama, and romance section of reader choices. I think all types of people would be able to enjoy this book, but certain people might understand or connect with the story more than others though. I would recommend this book but only to the people that would like the book more than others. I only say this because I know that certain people (friends or family members) won’t like it. Though for me I’m a sucker for a good love story with even better drama.
Overall, I think the book is pretty good. Though I don’t think it’s for everyone’s different taste in books. The PG-13 rating as far as the parental ratings go and a good 3 out of 4 for how the story is and the writing. And I would recommend it though I would want more from the author in the story with the main two characters. They should both tell the story from their point of view. Maybe a trigger for someone with mental health issues, so caution well reading.
