Set in Victoria, Australia, Heartaches 2 is a beautiful story involving love, lust, romance, revenge and so on. This third person narrative tells the story of Anna Simmons, a girl who had been a victim one too many times, and Rafael Brown, a soldier with a dark past. They meet, and find healing in each other. They later discover that they have more in common, as even their enemies seem to be related. Even now, they continue to face troubles and challenges. Yet through it all, they manage to find their strength in each other to overcome whatever or whoever may come their way.

Heartaches 2 is the sequel to Heartaches and the second book in the Bad Boy Vibes Series. It is a wonderful piece by H. M. Irwing that narrates an intriguing and captivating story with an expressive style that always seems to describe each scene perfectly with an adequate images. This gives the readers the wonderful feeling of being inside the story.

While at first glance the book may be considered a romance novel, it differs from your everyday romance novel as it contains tiny bits of other genres including action and thriller. The book also seems to revolve around various themes including Love, revenge, rape, military. Though the central theme appears to be that “true love is true strength”.

Despite the fact that that H. M. Irwing has done a splendid job in producing this masterpiece, it seems to be lacking in terms of character development. It would seem that most of the character developing is done when it is essential to the plot. As a result, some parts of the story seem a little bit rushed. One could only hope that this would be addressed in the sequel. Nevertheless, the whole story seems to play out just fine.

Considering all these, I would rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. Its getting this because of the beautiful story, the very vivid descriptive style of writing, and the fact that its a quite distinctive romance novel. However, I feel more can be done in terms of character development, so we get to relate with all the character well, and not just the major ones.

In summary, Heartaches 2 is a good read for those who don’t want to read a typical romance novel, but want something more. But if you are looking for your average romance novel then I suggest you look elsewhere.
