A Little Lost A Little Found is a romantic work of fiction written by H. M. Irwing. It is set in the modern Australia. It featured sexual tensions.
The book was about a young teen, Lucy Little, whose twin brother Blaise, was kidnapped six months after their birth. As a child, Lucy was bullied by other children because of her skin colour which was totally different from that of the family she was living with. Lucy had the feeling that she was adopted which was heightened by other children telling her so. As she got older, she was continually gnawed by this feeling until she decided to confront her mother Mary. Mary told her about her birth father, Knyte, a musician, and her kidnapped twin brother. Lucy was burdened by these revelations, especially when her birth father demanded that she should visit him in America. Lucy had a trusted friend- Jace, with whom she had shared the burdens of her life and family. When Jace became more than a friend, Lucy's troubles were tripled as she and Jace received consternation from all sides including their families. Daniel, Jace's father, had to cut off his relationship with Patrick, Lucy's father, that had spanned for over four decades. On top of that, Jace's billionaire friend - Richard, was chasing Lucy with fire and brimstone to keep her for himself. Her doubt in her relationship with Jace increased when she found out that Jace had been betrothed to Celine, Richard's sister in order to salvage Jace's father's clothing business. Lucy was in a dilemma with difficult choices facing her. Is she ready to face her birth father after all these years, especially at this time of her life? Will she be able to find her brother? Having shared almost all her life with Jace, will she give in to the demands of her family and let Jace go?
Lucy showed bravery despite all the wars she faced. She was a very strong character who spoke out her mind irrespective of the person involved. Her love for her family is commendable, especially how she stood for her sisters - Emily and Cat, and protected them. Jace's show of sexual control is also commendable. It's rare to find an able bodied man with strong libido not taking advantage of a naïve girl, especially when the girl in question offered freely. It showed his love and commitment. The writer's technique was superb. The book was diverse with different plot and subplots and motifs which made me glued to the book irrespective of overflowing shortcomings. There were the motifs of love and wealth. Jace and Celine were thrown together not because they feel anything for each other, but to help increase the wealth in their families.
Irwing has a whole lot of editing to do. Right from the beginning, this book is characterized by avoidable spelling errors and grammatical errors. There were inconsistencies in the names of the characters. Jace was sometimes called Jake and Blaise was also called Blasé. The so many repetitions in the novel made the book look childish.
As a result of the errors noted, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. It is a book of romance and will therefore, be loved by people who love romance especially young adults.
