Heartache

Anna Simmons was a beautiful young girl living a complicated life with secrets that had to be kept when she met Matt, the most handsome guy in school actually wanted to be with her and was treating her well until the night of the rave where she met his brother Jason. Jason was as handsome Matt but a little older.

After introducing himself, Jason had drugged Anna without her knowing and then proceeded to rape her and then Matt also joined in. They then took her to their house where she met their father, Peter Preston and the three proceeded to rape her throughout the night. When she woke up the next morning, she found out that her stepbrother Brian owed them a debt which was why she was made into a target. The same stepbrother who had killed his father not long after coming back into their lives.

This was a well written story of a woman struggling with things that were done to her, trying to build a new life with someone who understood, Rafe Brown. I like that it shows most aspects of the rape and the effects that it has on the victim. I liked the most that it talks about the psychological effects that it has on the victims and how it can change the way they think and react.

It also shows the struggle that the law has with trying to get those that have inflicted harm on these persons behind bars, the effect that those in power have on the justice system and utter lack or remorse the perpetrators have towards their victims.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because the characters could have been developed a little more and a little more background on Brian and his part in the whole dilemma he caused could have been expounded on since his actions are the ones that started the ball rolling for Anna.
The errors that were found in the book were not many, only six in total and all minute mistakes. On page 9, paragraph 1, line 6, 'thread' should be changed to 'tread'. On the same page, paragraph 6, line 9, insert 'up' after the word 'teared'. On page 10, paragraph 2, line 9, change the statement 'from when he had a need for him most' to 'when he needed him most'. Page 43, paragraph 7, insert the word 'long' before 'time'. Page 89, paragraph 4, line 4, change 'called them up' to ' called them out'. Page 131, last paragraph, line 2, the word 'lose' should be changed to 'loose'.

This book I believe will appeal to those are looking for a book with romance that is relatable, with a kind of love that can look past one's past and accept the person within and fight with them to protect that love. For someone looking for a book that will touch on topics that some avoid but does it in a way that touches you deeply, then this is the right book.
